Meet the team

This site is supported developed and maintained by the Further Education and Skills team at Jisc.

Karla YoungsThe team is headed by Karla Youngs. Karla has nearly 20 years’ experience within the higher education sector in developing and delivering digital media related services and projects. She has led teams in developing applied research activities, information resources and training and consultancy to clients across FE and skills, HE and the cultural heritage sector.

Pete CollinsPete Collins the manager of further education and skills services digital resources team, guiding the team, the service and project management functions within the Further Education and Skills area. Pete has been with Jisc for many years, previously supporting the Jorum Open Educational Resources repository before moving into this role.

Helen Foster Helen Foster is the team’s curriculum and services support officer. Helen has over five years’ experience in the education sector, working in school and FE libraries, and as a teacher of English. Helen holds qualifications in Library and Information Management, a PGCE in Secondary English and a degree in English Literature. Helen oversees enquiries and feedback, as well as engaging with the community and teaching practitioners; staying on top of changes and development in further education curriculum to make sure that the services evolve to meet the needs of our members.

Kate NicolsonIn May 2017, Kate Nicolson joined the team as graduate educational technologist. Recently graduated with a degree in Computing, with study focused on eLearning. Kate focuses on the analysis current and future services, finding ways of improving the digital experience designed. Research and investigation into eLearning technologies is applied to look for service advancements. Kate also supports the development of the services via testing and technical reports.

Jess Bosanquet Jess Bosanquet is the team’s project support officer, handling project governance, plans, organisation and documentation. Keeping the team on track for project delivery. Jess’ background is in education, as an English teacher, as well as providing end-to-end IT infrastructure in the private sector.

Veselin Kirev Veselin Kirev is the Software Engineer in the FE Team, who is primarily responsible for the architectural planning, development, deployment and maintenance of new and the migration and expansion of old FE services. Veselin’s other responsibilities include speeding up the process of finding technical information about the services, by creating a Technical Documentations, setting up services for continuous analytics to maintain quality of service and communicate across teams to resolve IT issues in a timely manner.

Callie-Louise Holding Callie-Louise Holding is the team’s FE and skills quality assurance tester. Callie’s interest in testing stems from her university degree in game design and development. Callie is responsible for testing the quality and functionality of our services and websites, making sure they meet the needs of our FE members.
