We recently caught up with Danielle Bromley who works at East Riding College as an e-Learning Facilitator to discuss their experiences of using the Hairdressing Training website and what they would like to see developed.
Please get in touch at Hairdressing@jisc.ac.uk if you would like to discuss any of the points in this post, if you have any questions or if you would like to contribute your own experiences.
My name is Danielle Bromley and I work at East Riding College as an e-Learning Facilitator. My role is to assist staff with the production of resources for their courses on our VLE and assist learners with the use of e-Learning in their education. We are fairly new to the resources on the Hairdressing Training website but so far the videos and guides have been popular.
We have been embedding the resources into our Virtual Learning Environment (we use Moodle) for our learners to access as part of their Directed Private Learning (DPL is an extension to their main course, to provide further learning opportunities outside the classroom.)
So far they have proved useful as additional learning resources for learners to use outside of their lesson time, to encourage independent learning.
Concerning the future of Hairdressing Training, we would ideally like to be able to fully embed the quizzes into our VLE, so tutors can track how well a learner is understanding a subject. As it is now, the learner receives immediate feedback on how well they have done in a quiz but the tutor has no way of checking – it would be useful for our staff to be able to review the quiz after their group have completed it and be able to identify those who maybe need further help.
