Greetings for the Hairdressing Training team at Jisc.
While we’re preparing for the new academic year and thinking about where our learning will take us, spare a minute to think about mental wellbeing.
Katie Scarfe, a colour director at CODE Hair Consultants in Lowestoft, has paired with a health ambassador, Tod Sullivan, to increase awareness of mental health.
A podcast on the initiative, ‘Cut out the stigma’, is available to listen to and a special event was planned, aimed at bringing together practitioners and industry professionals to learn more about mental health and promote positive mental health.
The initiative provides a place for industry professionals to contribute their own ideas around making the salon a calm place for customers and reducing anxiety-provoking experiences for sufferers. As well as this, hairdressers can be aware of each other’s problems and let colleagues and peers know they can be open.
