We recently had a chat with Aftab Hussain, a strategic ILT Leader at Bolton College to discuss how our Hairdressing training resources have been used within their Chabot, Ada.
Please get in touch at Hairdressing@jisc.ac.uk if you would like to discuss any of the points in this post, if you have any questions or if you would like to contribute your own experiences.
Bolton College has designed a digital assistant named Ada who has been taught to respond to general questions and enquires across multiple contexts. For hairdressing students, they have cleverly created a mini-lesson in response to a question using our videos, step by step guides and learning and assessment resources.
This resource has had an extremely positive response from students and teachers, allowing students to study at their own pace and learn independently. Without needing a model in front of them, students can watch a video as many times as they wish to grasp a technique. Teaching staff can now build the subject-specific Chatbots themselves and within an hour Ada can answer questions, saving teachers plenty of precious time.
As the sector moves towards T-Levels, Aftab noted that ‘Bolton College’s use of the Jisc online resources could only strengthen and support its blended learning program.’
